An end-to-end Business Analysis and commercial intelligence case study being developed to demonstrate the full journey from business problem discovery and requirements analysis through process improvement, analytical solution development, Agile delivery, UAT and implementation readiness.
This project is being intentionally developed beyond a traditional dashboard exercise. The objective is to demonstrate how a Business Analyst moves from an initial business problem through stakeholder analysis, requirements, process design, solution delivery and validation.
The finished case study will combine traditional Business Analysis practices with data and business intelligence capabilities, showing both the business-facing and technical sides of the role within one end-to-end project.
Define the business context, objectives, scope, constraints, assumptions and measurable outcomes.
Identify affected stakeholders, decision-makers, influence levels, business needs and communication requirements.
Translate stakeholder needs into clear business, functional and non-functional requirements.
Map the existing process, identify bottlenecks, control weaknesses, hand-offs, duplication and operational pain points.
Compare current performance with the desired state and identify the underlying causes of the business problem.
Design an improved process and define how the proposed solution addresses the identified business gaps.
Translate requirements into Agile epics, user stories, prioritised backlog items and measurable acceptance criteria.
Structure and manage requirements, tasks and delivery progress within a Jira-based Agile workflow.
Develop the analytical solution using controlled data preparation, modelling, SQL analysis, KPI logic and management reporting.
Connect business needs to requirements, user stories, solution components and test evidence.
Develop UAT scenarios, test cases, expected results, defect tracking and formal acceptance evidence.
Define implementation actions, stakeholder communication, operational risks, KPIs and post-implementation measurement.
Validating source records, keys, relationships, control totals and analytical limitations before downstream modelling.
Building a controlled analytical model across customer, product, order, review and digital engagement data.
Developing commercial KPIs, management reporting and analytical views that support decision-making rather than dashboard creation for its own sake.
The next development stages will move beyond the BI build and introduce the formal requirements, process, Agile and validation artefacts expected in an end-to-end Business Analyst workflow.
Stakeholder analysis, requirements elicitation, process mapping, gap analysis, business documentation and solution design.
Epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog prioritisation, Jira workflow management and iterative delivery.
Data quality, Power Query, data modelling, SQL, Power BI, KPI design and management decision-support.
Requirements traceability, UAT planning, test-case design, defect tracking and formal acceptance.
AS-IS and TO-BE analysis, root-cause identification, workflow redesign and measurable operational improvement.
Translating technical analysis and business requirements into structured recommendations, implementation actions and KPIs.
The final portfolio page will be expanded as each Business Analysis, Agile, technical and UAT stage is completed and validated.
